Our Management Process

The nature of our business requires everything we do to be closely supervised to minimise risk. That means being fully compliant with all legislation, and encouraging every employee to be actively involved in health and safety as an integral part of how we work.

STEP 1 · RECORD

Bespoke System

We've invested in a purpose-built management information system to manage and control all of our operators. It gives us tracking and assessment processes well beyond any off-the-shelf software package.

As well as producing critical management information, it records and analyses:

  • Operator experience, expertise and capabilities
  • Training and assessment records
  • Medical information, employment checks and licences
  • Site inductions and assessments
STEP 2 · MATCH

We Know Our Operators

Because every operator's history is held in one place, we don't guess who to send. We know who has run your type of crane, where, and how well — so the right person with the right experience goes to the right job.

  • Around 8,000 lifting professionals registered with us
  • Over 10,000 assessments on record since 2002, giving us each operator's track record on specific cranes
  • Every placement matched to proven experience on that type and model of crane
  • Current CPCS cards, up-to-date references and verified work history for everyone we supply
STEP 3 · ASSESS & SUPPORT

On-site Assessors

Once an operator is placed, our on-site assessors follow a set procedure, including:

  • Written confirmation of every placement before operational pre-start checks
  • Assessing every operator on each individual crane, as required by BS 7121 Safe Use of Cranes, Section C.9.6
  • Weekly checks of medical records and CPCS cards
  • Frequent random drug and alcohol testing
  • 24-hour telephone support with access to standby operators
  • Weekly timesheets and accurate records of downtime

At MPS, we also provide operators with a company specific handbook which outlines our Health and Safety policies and Personal Protective Equipment to specific site requirements.

We work hard to ensure that all employees are aware of company procedures and understand that non-compliance can result in disciplinary action. Accurate records are kept at all times and appropriate preventative and protective measures are always taken when needed.

This accreditation includes the provision of skilled crane operators and other crane/lifting industry personnel to the construction and civil engineering industries.

CITB and City Guilds Approved Provider

We are also accredited by the construction industry training board (CITB) and City and Guilds as an approved provider of training and assessment for cranes and lifting.

We are members of Construction Online and approved by Safety Management Advisory Services Ltd (SMAS) who are full members of the Safety Scheme In Procurement (SSIP).
